Red Balloon Brunch - March 8, 2015|
The Cancer Support Community Delaware held its 10th Annual Red Balloon Brunch on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Deerfield Country Club. The Board of the Cancer Support Community Delaware honored Senator Bethany Hall Long as the Cancer Crusader for 2015, and additionally honored Capital One as their 2015 Volunteer of the Year. Honorary Chair of the event this year, Mrs. Annie Coons, spoke to the guests on the importance of the Cancer Support Community to the people of Delaware. Senator Long spoke of her involvement with the organization, and thanked the Board for the honor. Mr. Kevin Botbyl accepted the award for Capital One, and spoke on the work done by the company on the organizations garden. The work has continued since 2009, and Mr. Botbyl spoke of the many individuals who have volunteered and ask to repeat on a monthly basis. Mrs. Nicole Topkis Pickles, Executive Director presented Mrs. Coons with a small token of appreciation for her commitment to the community.
