Partnering for a Purpose, Let's Take a Bite out of Cancer - October 2, 2014|
Janssen's Market, Greenville, DE
The Cancer Support Community Delaware held Partnering for a Purpose, Let's Take a Bite out of Cancer! at Janssen's Market in Greenville, on Thursday, October 2nd. This event, meant to spread awareness to a wider audience through great food and wine pairings, was sold out to the 100 people in attendance. The Curran Foundation, Tina and Pete Hayward, and Lesley and Cory Porter sponsored the event and all of the restaurants and alcohol providers donated everything. CSCDE will benefit from 100% of the proceeds from the evening. Janssen's Market was the most generous and gracious host; a special thank you to Paula Janssen and her staff!
Guests enjoyed the cocktail hour, which was held on the patio at Janssen's. Beer from Twin Lakes and Sparkling Wine from Domaine Carneros, provided by Southern Wine & Spirit Co. were served with hors d' oeuvres from Janssen's Market and a cheese board sponsored by the Pettinaro family.
A three course, sit down dinner was served on farm tables inside the store. The delicious meal featured a Cold Poached Scottish Salmon Nicoise prepared by husband and wife team, Merry Catanuto and William Hoffman, from The House of William and Merry in Hockessin and served with Bouchaine "Estate" Chardonnay; a Ravioli All'anatra (fresh pasta filled with roasted duck) prepared by Dan Butler of Piccolina Toscana in Wilmington and served with Bouchaine "Carneros" Pinot Noir; and Pumpkin Crème Brûlée with Almond Lizy Cookie & Spiced Caramel Sauce prepared by Ryan German from Caffé Gelato, in Newark and served with Bouchaine "Bouche d'Or" Late Harvest Chardonnay. The extremely generous wine pairings for each course were provided by Bouchaine Vineyards and Bill Galbraith, Owner of The Wine and Spirit Company of Greenville. The Chefs spoke about each course and how the wines paired beautifully with their food. A special thank you to Secretariat - Wedding & Event Planning for creating a printing the beautiful menu cards.
